Born in Massachusetts, Michael Branca received his MFA from Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts after a BA from Colby College and undergraduate studies at Temple University Rome. He has been awarded residencies at Skowhegan, Vermont Studio Center and Monhegan's Carina House. He teaches drawing and painting at Southern Maine Community College and conducts Backcountry Art Trip workshops. Michael's work focuses on the natural world and, though he is aware of our habits which destroy or denigrate it, feels we pine for a more harmonious connection with forces greater than ourselves. Michael Branca is new to the gallery as of 2012. I hope you enjoy watching the evolution of this fine artist.
